When we studied food chains and food webs, who knew we'd be dissecting regurgitated owl breakfast, lunch and dinner? Here, seventh graders pull apart fur and look for bones of owl prey. Next step, reconstruct the prey skeletons...

Middlebury College junior, Bruce Hallett, has joined us for the month of January in our Upper School science classrooms. Bruce is an Environmental Science major who is looking forward to working with our students on their natural resources unit and in their research on environmental issues.

explosions in the 8th grade!

Lighting wooden splints on fire and igniting hydrogen gas collected in test tubes does create an explosion (but don't worry, it's a small one) accompanied by a loud pop. Left, an eighth grader helps her teacher collect the gas, and right, testing for the presence of hydrogen.
